About The Archive
The Essex Bus Archive is a digital collection of documents related to the bus industry in the county. As we add material over time, it will include company records (such as Eastern National vehicle allocation cards), leaflets, Group publications (including every newssheet and magazine we’ve published since 1964, excluding the most recent 12 months), current fleet lists for First Essex Buses and lots more.
The material is organised by operators and then sub pages under each operator to split the material into discrete categories.
It will take time to populate the Archive so bear with us as we find and scan suitable material, and visit our What’s New page for the latest updates. If you have material you can supply (ideally as pdf or jpg files) please contact us.
Please note that the Archive will not include photos – largely due to copyright complications, and because there are many photos available on-line on other sites.

The material on this site may be freely used for personal and research purposes and is supplied free of charge as part of an on-going project to create a digital archive related to bus and coach operations in Essex.

– in particular, images must not be extracted from any document and copied, posted or sold separately;

– written material (but not photographs) may be freely used as source material for research purposes, provided that its use is credited to the source and/or “EBEG – Essex Bus Archive” as appropriate;
– files in this archive may not be posted on web-sites (other than the Essex Bus Archive) without the prior written consent of EBEG, but hyperlinks to documents on the Essex Bus Archive may be freely used;

The Archive holds a wide range of material covering both major and minor operators, historic services, and changes over time. Content has been gathered from members, contributors, and long-standing collections.

Our Approach
Every effort is made to ensure that information within the Archive is accurate. However, much of the material reflects historical records and original documents, which may contain inconsistencies or errors typical of their time.
