Our Story
The Essex Bus Enthusiasts Group caters for anyone interested in bus and coach operations in Essex and the out-county operations of Essex based firms including TfL services in Essex.
We publish a monthly illustrated magazine, Essex Bus Magazine, containing current news and historical features, supplemented by two Extras a year devoted to more in-depth historical articles and photos. To subscribe, see our Join Us page.
Regular meetings are held in Chelmsford where members enjoy slide shows, talks and more informal social gatherings.
Years
of Experience
Essex Bus History
The Group was originally formed in March 1962 as a local interest section within the M&D and East Kent Bus Club. The Eastern National Enthusiasts Group (ENEG) came into being in January 1964, publishing its own monthly news sheet as well as organising meetings and coach tours.
Following deregulation of the bus industry in 1986, the Group changed its name to the current title, to reflect the wider news coverage now offered. Reflecting the Group’s heritage, this web site uses an approximation of Tilling Group green and cream for its navigation bars.
