Terry Challis

Terry Challis worked for Eastern National in the 1960s, initially in the schedules department, then as a seasonal conductor and later seasonal driver, both at Clacton, interspersed with a spell as a seasonal conductor for Crosville at Rock Ferry, fitted around his theological studies. He also worked as a timing clerk for British Railways. He has contributed a series of articles for Essex Bus News (the monthly magazine of the Essex Bus Enthusiasts Group) and these are reproduced here. The prequel covers his early bus spotting days in south-east Essex and then his experiences working on the buses. Also included to give the complete story is a sequel with more recent experiences as a spotter and passenger.
